How to Ride a Penny Farthing Bike

Get yourself a free Rotor Protector!

Coo Chi Coo has designed (and patented) a simple device to protect the disc brake rotors on your bike wheels from getting bent when traveling. This has to be easier than taking the rotors off the wheels! He has kindly offered to make the device to order for any SBH Member who would like one. The protector is made of light-weight aluminium and is held in place using a wheel skewer (if your bike doesn't use skewers, you will need to treat yourself to a couple of cheap ones). To get a pair, click on the link to email Coo Chi Coo.

The picture below shows the device and how it is attached to the wheel.

Bike World Explores Myanmar (BWEM)

A recommendation from founding Hash Member, Graeme D.:

Bike World Explores Myanmar (BWEM) specializes in organizing customised cycling, biking & trekking tours to most parts of Myanmar. Cycling tours can either be ridden using touring bikes or mountain bikes or a combination of both. Bike rental through Bike World Myanmar can be included in the package or cyclists can use their own bike.

Typical cycling & trekking tours either commence in Yangon, Bagan, Mandalay or Heho, however if a different starting point is desired a tour can be discussed. Overnight accommodation is normally arranged using a hotel or inn; tents can also be organized in some areas. Cycling tours can be either completely done on bike or a vehicle can be arranged to follow to carry provisions and cyclists wanting a rest. BWEM can also arrange for a tour leader to accompany the group either on bike or in the accompanying vehicle. All tour leaders are well qualified as bike cyclists and tour leaders having gained extensive firsthand knowledge of cycling the various routes in Myanmar. For those wanting to explore Myanmar on foot BWEM can organize an appropriate guide well versed in hiking in Myanmar.

Extra activities like fishing and bird watching can be included and even those wanting to plough a paddy field, using a team of buffalo, can be accommodated.

All BWEM guides speak their native language as well as English; some guides also speak French & German.
